About
Submit original, hand-made painterly artwork in traditional media (oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, or physical mixed media) that celebrates expressive colour, visible brushwork, and intentional mark-making for a curated online exhibition.
Overview
The Painterly Artist 2026 is a curated online exhibition presented by Hunter Guise Gallery. This open call invites artists working in traditional, hand-made media to submit work that foregrounds the artist's hand, material presence, and painterly expression. Up to 100 works will be selected and featured in an online exhibition, offering participating artists increased visibility and connection with new audiences.
Theme
Submit your most painterly work—pieces that celebrate expressive colour, bold mark-making, and interpretation over photographic realism. Hunter Guise Gallery seeks artwork that prioritizes the language of paint: expressive colour, visible brushwork, and confident, intentional mark-making that interprets subjects through gesture, abstraction, and personal voice.
