The City of Bothell invites public artists to collaborate with the parks design team on a site-specific artwork for a new inclusive outdoor playground at Cedar Grove Park. The artwork will be integrated into the built playground design elements to bring sensory richness, visual identity, and opportunities for interaction into the space.

Eligibility
Open to artists nationally. One submission per artist.
Application Requirements (Round 1)
- Statement of Interest (max 1 page)
- Relevant Past Work (especially public, interactive, or integrated projects)
- Resume or CV (max 2MB; txt, pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, or jpg format only)
- 3–5 images of relevant work
- Note: No conceptual proposal required for Round 1
Artistic Direction
- High tactile value to support visitors with vision impairments
- Shadow and light play, including dynamic, time-of-day experiences
- Canopy-based concepts: stained glass, prism-effect light filtering, cut metal pattern canopies, or overhead armatures
- Organic and nature-based forms such as willow domes or grove-like structures
- Open, permeable designs with holes, gaps, or layered elements
- Ground plane engagement with artistic surfacing or embedded elements
- Spatially immersive experiences children can move through, under, and around
- Material exploration including metal, wood, and glass combinations
- A sense of wonder and discovery encouraging curiosity and imaginative play
Thematic Focus
Artists are encouraged to explore a "Tree of Life" or related theme that reflects the natural character of the Pacific Northwest, Bothell's local identity and community, and the presence and symbolism of cedar groves and native landscapes.
