About
Submit a proposal for a site-specific solo project responding to Wave Hill's plant collections, history, design, and architecture, with focus on nature, culture, and place; for 2027 season, projects exploring ancestral wisdom in relation to earth and soil are especially encouraged.
Overview
Wave Hill Public Garden & Cultural Center, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx overlooking the Hudson River, invites proposals for the Sunroom Project Space. This art-incubator program supports emerging and mid-career artists with unique opportunities to conduct research and develop works at the intersection of nature, culture, and place.
About the Project
The Sunroom Project Space offers a chance to develop and showcase a site-specific, solo project in the Sunroom or Sun Porch at Glyndor Gallery. Wave Hill invites proposals that thoughtfully respond to and engage with the site—its plant collections, history, design, and architecture—with a focus on interconnected relationships between nature, culture, and the Bronx.
2027 Season Focus
For the 2027 season, Wave Hill is especially interested in projects that recognize ancestral wisdom in relation to our connection with the earth and soil. Proposals may explore practices, beliefs, and values passed down through generations, particularly those that foster harmonious relationships with our ecosystems—such as regenerative farming and agricultural practices, and the care of soil, water, and plant life. Projects engaging in the history of earth or land art that intersect with sustainable practices and ancestral wisdom are also welcome.
