Overview
Aviário Studio Ceramics Glaze Development Residency is a customized art residency program designed to promote exploration and production in glaze development. The program offers technical conditions, time, and space to develop ideas and try new approaches, with connection and knowledge exchange among artists from different backgrounds. The residency can serve as a moment of experimentation and learning new techniques, or as consolidation of a project with production of new work.
Residency Duration & Location
Residencies run from 2 to 6 weeks at Aviário Studio in Portugal. Private bedrooms available in shared on-campus housing facility.
Equipment & Facilities
Dedicated ceramics workspace with electric kiln (1260°, 220L), electric kiln (1050°, 160L), 3 electric pottery wheels, and extraction fans for safe working conditions. Additional shared studios, workshop access, and facilities including darkroom, printmaking, woodworking, and silkscreen studio available.
Eligibility
Open to artists 21+ based anywhere in the world at any career stage (emerging, mid-career, established). Spouses/partners allowed for full stay as non-collaborators. Artists may apply individually or as a team. Languages: English, French, Portuguese.
Residency Options
Choose from Self-directed Residency, Guided Art Residency, or Assisted Production Residency. Program customized according to artist's goals regarding duration, outcome, and focus.

- Studio support (training or assistance): 20€ per hour
