About
Submit up to 10 original 2D or 3D artworks (excluding photography) that feature visible hand-lettering in the composition, created within the past five years.
Overview
SCRIPTED is the 16th Annual Juried Show exploring the intersection of image and language through hand-lettering in visual art. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly—from bold typography and expressive script to subtle handwritten elements integrated into the composition. All mediums and styles are welcome, provided hand-lettering is a visible component of the work.
Eligibility
- Open to all artists living within the United States
- Original artwork created within the past five years
- Must include a visible element of hand-lettering in the final composition
- Photography is not accepted; all other 2D and 3D mediums welcome
- Artwork must be available for sale
- Previously submitted but not selected work may be re-entered
Size & Format
- 2D artwork: maximum 36 inches in width
- 3D artwork: maximum 36 inches in width or length
- 2D work must arrive exhibit-ready with proper wire-hanging system (no saw-tooth hangers or clip-on frames)
- SAGE provides pedestals for 3D work; artists provide any additional display hardware needed
- Maximum pedestal dimensions: 22 in. × 16 in.
Submission Details
- Submit 1–10 images of your work
- Submission deadline: July 1, 2026, 11:59 PM MST
- Blind jurying by Dan Lee (both online and in-person stages)
- Do not ship or deliver work until acceptance notifications received
Fees
- SAGE Members: $15 (includes first artwork)
- Non-Members: $25 (includes first artwork)
- Additional entries: $5 each, up to 10 total submissions
- All entry fees are non-refundable

- People's Choice Award: $150
