Submit work inspired by quilts, quilt motifs, or the art of piecing things together, responding to the quilt as literal artwork, as technique, or as visual language.

An exhibition inspired by quilts, quilt motifs, and the art of piecing things together. A quilt is built from parts—scraps, blocks, fragments—brought together into something whole. Artists are invited to respond to one or more of these threads: the quilt as literal artwork, the quilt as technique, or the quilt as visual language. Submissions engaging with pattern, texture, color relationships, scrap and reuse, and the handmade are especially encouraged.

  • The quilt as literal artwork (a finished, wearable, or hangable quilt)
  • The quilt as technique (piecing, patchwork, appliqué, improvisational construction, or hand/machine stitching used in any medium)
  • The quilt as visual language (grids, blocks, repeated motifs, and pattern-based composition, even outside of fiber art)
  • No material specifications—work must reflect one of the three categories above
  • Images: 1–3
  • Audio: 0–2
  • Video: 0–2
  • Total files per submission: 1–5
  • Submission limit: 1 per application entry; you may submit multiple entries on separate application forms
  • Submission deadline: August 23, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET

  • Work arrival at Kinhouse Gallery: September 25, 2026
