Submit up to 4 plein air paintings (maximum of 2 can be selected) executed primarily on location for jurying in the 2026 Member Show with the theme Valley Deep/Mountain High.
Overview
In-person juried member show with the theme Valley Deep/Mountain High. Over $2,000 in cash and merchandise will be awarded, including First, Second, and Third Place, Special Merit for Pastel and Special Merit for Water Media, plus numerous Honorable Mentions.

Eligibility
Artist must be an APAP member with paid membership, have Arizona residency (part-time legal address accepted), be 18 years or older, and submit work executed within the last two years and not previously shown in a Shemer or APAP exhibition.
Artwork Requirements
- Mediums: Oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, casein, pastel
- Size: Excluding frame, minimum 6×8 and maximum 16×20 or 320 sq. in.
- Must be executed 80% on location in natural light, with no more than 20% studio touch-up
- Painted within the last two years
- Works submitted may not be done under instruction
- No AI
- Professional and appropriate framing with no wrapped canvas; neutral matting and non-glare glass where called for; check corners for tight fit; no sawtooth hangers
Entry & Fees
- Entry fee: $40 for up to 4 pieces (maximum of 2 can be selected)
- APAP members only
- Payment by credit or debit card via secure checkout
- Entry fees are not refundable
- After submission and payment, you may edit artist and image information and add or substitute images until the entry deadline (July 27, 2026)
Sales & Commission
All work must be for sale with a minimum price of $300.00. The Shemer will handle all sales, with 70% to the artist and 30% to the Shemer. All works will stay on exhibit until exhibition closing; no exceptions.
Image Specifications
- Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files (other formats not accepted)
- Crop image to show only the artwork itself with no visible matting, frames, or background distractions
- Ensure image is oriented correctly (right side up)
- Do not resize before uploading; system will automatically resize
- Maximum file size: 30mb
- Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet requirements, so ensure images are high resolution before uploading
