About
Professional contemporary visual artists with active subscriptions apply to receive a monthly bursary of £1000 to support the ongoing costs of sustaining and developing their artistic practice.
Overview
The CuratorSpace Artist Bursary programme supports professional contemporary visual artists by contributing to the ongoing costs of sustaining and developing their practice. Applications are selected solely on the basis of practice, with one bursary of £1000 awarded each month. There are no fixed deadlines; shortlisted artists who are not selected remain in the pool automatically for as long as they are eligible, with no need to reapply.
Who can apply
Bursaries are available to professional contemporary visual artists worldwide with a CuratorSpace Artist or Artist Plus subscription (either annual or held continuously for the previous 12 months). All members of partnerships or collectives must hold an eligible subscription. Artists can work in any medium, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, applied art, live art, and social practice. Applications must be submitted in English.
Who is not eligible

- Activity unrelated to a contemporary art practice
- Workshop delivery
- Commercial product development
- Students currently enrolled in a BA programme
- Practices that promote or incite hatred or discrimination in any form
What the bursary can fund
- Producing new work
- Research and development
- Materials, equipment, or training
- Expanding or adapting your practice in response to new opportunities
- Access costs
- Match funding
Selection and payment
Applications are reviewed and shortlisted based on eligibility. Each month, one shortlisted artist is selected at random to receive £1000. Selected artists are not eligible to reapply for 12 months after their award. Payment is 80% in advance upon receipt of an invoice following selection, with the remaining 20% paid upon completion of a short feedback form.
Deadline
The next deadline for applications is 31st July 2026.
