Roots and Rhythms

Overview

The Las Vegas Artists Guild invites local artists to submit work for Roots and Rhythms, an online exhibition exploring the cultures that have influenced, inspired, and sustained us. Through visual art, this exhibition celebrates the countless ways culture is expressed and preserved—music, dance, food, language, craftsmanship, rituals, and communal traditions. Culture is a living expression of identity, memory, and belonging.

• Submissions Open: Saturday, June 27, 2026
• Entry Deadline: Friday, August 14, 2026
• Award Notification: September 4, 2026
• Exhibition Dates: August 26 – October 16, 2026

Eligibility

Open to LVAG members in good standing. New members welcome. If you are not a LVAG member or your membership has expired, you must complete a membership application form on the LVAG Membership page before the entry deadline. If you are not a LVAG member in good standing prior to the entry deadline, your entry will be disqualified and non-refundable.

Categories

• 2D Artwork: Painting and Drawing (Acrylic, Oil, Pastel, Watercolor, Encaustic, Mixed Media), Ceramics (flat and ready to hang), Photography, and Digital Artwork
• 3D Artwork: Sculptures, pottery art, porcelain, glassware, jewelry, fabric art, and other works with depth viewable from multiple angles

Allowed Media

Art must be the artist's original work. Allowed mediums include acrylic, pastel, oils, watercolor, mixed media, drawing, digital art, encaustic, photography, sculpture, ceramics, porcelain, glassware, original wearable art, and jewelry. Only original compositions and artwork by the artist are accepted. Jewelry must be of original concept and design.

Not Allowed

• Artwork that won a monetary prize in a previous LVAG Online Art Gallery Event
• Artwork cannot be original art created in a different format such as mugs, tiles, pillows, or clothing
• Artwork done in an art class or workshop
• Art based on copyright protected sources
• Nudes, adult-themed, or uncompleted works
• Copy giclee prints

Entry Fees

• LVAG Members: $45 for 3 entries
• Each additional entry: $10 each (up to 5 total entries per artist)
• Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline

Awards

• Best in Show - $250
• 2D Art: 1st Place - $150, 2nd Place - $100, 3 Honorable Mentions
• 3D Art: 1st Place - $150, 2nd Place - $100, 3 Honorable Mentions

Sales & Commission

Paintings may be priced for sale or not for sale (NFS). All sales inquiries will be submitted through the Artist Spotlight page on the LVAG website. The artist is entirely responsible for all aspects of the sale of their artwork. LVAG will not collect commission fees for this art show.
