Overview
The Art in Public Places Program of New Mexico Arts, in collaboration with the Art in Transit Program of the North Central Regional Transit District, seeks to hire 9 artists to create digital artwork to be printed and installed on perforated steel panels for 3 Blue Bus bus shelters across Northern New Mexico. Artwork should showcase each community, local culture, connections, cultural homelands, local landscapes, agricultural practices, diversity of lifeways, traditions, landmarks, and languages while incorporating your lived experience and connections to the community.
Project Details
- 3 bus shelters total: 2 in Taos and Española (2 panels each), 1 in Santa Fe (3 panels)
- Each panel measures approximately 53" x 77"
- One artist will be selected per bus shelter
- All printing and installation handled by NCRTD and subcontractors

Awards
Artists selected will be commissioned and paid $5,000 per completed artwork (digital file approximately 53" x 77"). This amount includes all fees and expenses associated with the project, including materials, equipment, labor, taxes, and travel.
Selection Criteria
The Art in Transit Committee will evaluate submissions based on: the qualifications of the artist(s) as evidenced by supporting materials; proven ability to undertake projects of the described scope; artistic merit and superior caliber craftsmanship as evidenced by images; and suitability of submission to project intent and scope (digital artwork and/or ability to digitize existing artwork, demonstrated themes similar to those within the scope of this project, etc.).
