About
Indigenous screenwriters at various stages of career are invited to apply individually or with a collaborator (novelist, short story writer, or playwright) to develop their work for screen adaptation.
Overview
Write Over Here: Indigenous Futurism welcomes Indigenous screenwriters at various stages of their careers to apply individually or with a collaborator (novelist, short story writer, or playwright) to work on adapting their work for the screen. The program supports writers exploring themes of futurism for film and television adaptations.
Program Details
The 4-week residency balances self-directed writing in personal studios with scheduled workshops, discussions, and events. Participants will refine screenwriting skills, collaborate with peers, and engage in culturally informed creative practices. An online preparatory week includes intro sessions, script reviews, and one-on-one sessions. Faculty and guest artist-led workshops cover story and character development, screenwriting techniques, and creative practice. On-campus benefits include 24/7 access to studio space, one-on-one consultations, and community engagement opportunities. On February 24th, an open house will showcase cohort work through screenings, table reads, and artist talks.
