Overview
Aviário Studio Artist Book Residency provides technical conditions, time, and space to develop ideas in the artist book field. The residency promotes connection between artists from different backgrounds and the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Duration, focus, and outcome are defined by the participating artist's goals.
Residency Details
- Duration: 2 weeks to 6 months
- Languages: English, Portuguese
- Residency types: Self-directed, Guided Art Residency, or Assisted Production Residency
- Spouses/partners allowed for full stay (non-collaborators)
- Pets are not allowed
- Private bedroom in shared housing facility on campus
Facilities & Equipment
- Shared and dedicated studios with part-time technicians
- Book Arts: Etching press, inking table, drying racks, silkscreen studio, light tables, exposure unit, washout room
- Ceramics: Electric wheels and kiln
- Blacksmithing: Gas/oxy torches, bench grinder, soldering workspace
- Darkroom (black and white), printmaking workspaces, woodworking tools
- Accessible housing (50% or more of facility)

Eligibility
Open to artists of any career stage based anywhere in the world. Artists must be over 21 years old at the time of arrival and able to cover the costs of the residency fee, travel, materials, and food.
Application Requirements
Email the following to aviariostudio@gmail.com: Full name, email address, phone number, nationality, birth date, check-in and check-out dates, accommodation preference, choice of residency type, brief project description, and online portfolio (or 5-8 images).

- Residency Fee varies by duration: 2 weeks - 600 €; 3 weeks - 900 €; 4 weeks - 1,200 €; 5 weeks - 1,500 €; 6 weeks - 1,800 €. Materials and meals not included. Studio Support (training or assistance) is 20€ per hour.
