¡Encantada! 2026 Annual Juried Exhibition

Overview

¡Encantada! is an annual juried exhibition sponsored by the Rio Grande Art Association (RGAA) promoting the sale of original 2D and 3D artwork. All styles are welcome: traditional, representational, abstract, non-traditional, contemporary, and avantgarde.

Key Dates

• Submission deadline: September 11, 2026
• Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony: Friday, November 6, 2026, 5:30–7:30 pm
• Exhibition: Saturday, November 7–Sunday, November 29, 2026 (Thursday–Sunday, 10:00 am–5:00 pm)
• Closed Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thanksgiving

Eligibility

• Must be 18 or older
• RGAA membership required (dues must be paid in full before submitting and remain current through November 30, 2026, or later)
• Artwork must be original and produced within the last two years from the entry deadline
• Artwork must not have been exhibited in any previous RGAA-sponsored show
• Artwork must be for sale

Accepted Media

Original paintings, drawings, artisan prints (lithographs, etchings, engravings, silkscreens, monotypes), collage, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, ceramics, batik, weaving, jewelry, and other 2D or 3D artwork.

Not Accepted

• Computer-generated, AI, or digital artwork
• Photography
• Giclee prints
• Works with pre-embossed or pre-printed images
• Works from copyrighted materials (published materials, photographs, other artworks)
• Artwork done under instructor guidance

Artwork Requirements

• At least 80% of artwork surface/form must be hand worked
• Must be original in concept and executed solely by the entering artist
• Gallery-ready at time of delivery (fully dry, no alterations)
• Professional presentation required; no name plaques attached
• 2D artwork: suitably framed or gallery wrapped with D-rings and picture hanging wire (wire must peak 3.5" from top edge); no saw-tooth hangers; gallery-wrapped canvases minimum 1.5" depth, painted on all four sides
• 3D artwork: appropriately presented as floor display or on pedestals provided

• Standard 2D: unframed max 50" × 72" (min 108 sq in/9" × 12"), max frame width 4", min price $250
• Small 2D: unframed max 80 sq in (8" × 10"), max frame width 3", no minimum size or price stated for this category in provided text
• 3D: no specific size limits stated

Awards

• Standard 2D: $1,000 first place, $700 second place, $500 third place
• Small 2D: $500 first place, $325 second place, $275 third place
• 3D: $500 first place, $325 second place, $275 third place
• Additional cash merit awards given in all categories

Volunteer & Delivery Requirements

Volunteering on show committee or hosting ("sitting") the show at the venue is required for all artists with accepted artwork, unless they live farther than 50 miles from ExpoNM. Artists who do not meet the distance requirement and are unavailable to volunteer or host may do a buyout for $40. All artwork must remain exhibited until Sunday, November 29, 2026, 6 pm, unless special arrangements are made with the Show Chair.
