Soulangh Cultural Park in Tainan, Taiwan offers an annual artists-in-residence program welcoming visual art, performance, and interdisciplinary artists from around the world. The park, housed in revitalized Japanese-era sugar refinery warehouses, provides studio spaces, galleries, and theaters in a culturally rich environment. Eligibility
Open to emerging, mid-career, and established artists based anywhere in the world. Applicants must have basic communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese. Collaborative applications accepted; pets not allowed.

Application & Requirements
Applicants must submit a residency project plan based on a given theme and are encouraged to use Tainan's cultural assets and the Soulangh environment in outdoor works. Selected artists must hold one achievement exhibition and at least one parent-child workshop or open studio day during residency.
Housing & Facilities
- Private bedroom in shared housing facility on campus, partially accessible (50% or more)
- Air-conditioned, wheelchair-accessible studio spaces
- Exhibition/installation space with lighting rails, wooden partitions, air conditioning, and relevant equipment
- Performance/presentation facilities and theater
- Soldering workspace, printers and scanner, woodworking tools
- Shared artist studio with tables, chairs, and room partitions
- Free access to multimedia devices (projectors, monitors, speakers, lights)
- Bicycle provided; shared kitchen access; utility bills and showering facilities included (personal items not provided)
Support & Opportunities
Residents participate in open studio with fellow artists and lead workshops for the public. Soulangh staff provide essential support; for professional and technical projects, artists may hire additional personnel.
Funding & Fees
- Travel stipend: 150,000 New Taiwan Dollar (TWD)
- Residency fees: 90,000 New Taiwan Dollar (TWD)
- Living expense grant: up to NT$72,000 (maximum NT$800 per day for up to 90 days), subject to personal income tax (6–20% for foreigners, 2% for 2nd Generation NHI)
- Exhibition production grant: up to NT$18,000 (maximum NT$200 per day for up to 90 days), subject to personal income tax
- Materials and exhibition production budget: up to 150,000 (VAT included)
- Additional stamp duty: 0.1% of grant amount (paid by selected artist, not included in grant)
