Submit original artwork in a variety of 2D and 3D media (paintings, drawings, sculpture, pottery, etc.) that must be for sale for consideration in a juried fall art show.

The Clarke County Historical Association invites artists working in a variety of media to submit applications for the juried Art at the Mill Show. This exhibition offers emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their talents and latest works. Note: all work submitted must be for sale.

  • Submissions open: Monday, July 6 @ 9am
  • Submissions close: Monday, July 27 @ Midnight
  • Artists notified of jury selection: Friday, August 7
  • Art drop-off by appointment: Friday, August 28 or Saturday, August 29 (9am–4pm)

International. All work must be original, non-reproducible work not previously submitted and completed within the last two years by living artists. All work submitted must be for sale.

  • 2D Art: Acrylic, oil, watercolor, gouache paintings, drawing, encaustic, printmaking, pastel, mixed media. (No photography, fabric art, or digitized art due to space limitations and humidity.)
  • 3D Art: Basketry, metal relief, glasswork, pottery, sculpture, woodworking, or mosaic (assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, tile, or other hard 3D materials).

2D artwork must be suitably framed or on gallery-wrapped canvas with painted edges (minimum 1½" canvas depth). All 2D media except acrylic, oil, or encaustic must be framed with glass. Watercolor/gouache must be framed with glass/plexi or protected with wax medium or varnish. Artwork must have wire on back for hanging—no sawtooth hangers. If work does not meet framing criteria it will not be hung during the show. 3D artwork must be freestanding or presented on a pedestal/stand.

$35.00 non-refundable registration fee permits artists to submit a maximum of five (5) pieces of art in any medium. Each piece of artwork is a separate submission. Images should be professional high-quality for both jurying and online gallery display.

Artistic work is juried based on artistic theme (design, vision, creativity, originality), technical execution (technique, skill, degree of difficulty, mastery of materials), and pricing based on market and past sales. The Clarke County Historical Association receives 35% of the sales price of each piece to fund continued maintenance and operation of the Burwell-Morgan Mill.
