Overview
Crosstown Arts Residency in Memphis, Tennessee welcomes both visiting and local artists and curators to its multidisciplinary artist residency program spanning visual arts, music, film, and literature. The urban residency promotes connection and socialization among residents while encouraging engagement with the broader community.

What's Included
All residencies are free. Residents receive 24/7 access to private studio spaces, complimentary use of shared art workspaces and music production suites, free YMCA membership, and access to a range of analog and digital fabrication tools. For live/work residencies, private living quarters are provided with shared kitchen, laundry, and communal living areas.
Eligibility
Open to artists 18 and older at any stage of career based anywhere in the world. Alumni of Crosstown Arts Residency are not eligible for the 2027 application. Pets are not allowed.
Residency Length
Residencies last 2–3 months. Applicants may apply for Spring, Summer, or Fall 2027 sessions.
Application Requirements
Submit 5–8 work samples, an artist statement, and residency goals. Residency applications are divided into four disciplines: music, visual arts, film/media, and writing. Applicants may request one additional panelist from a separate discipline to review their application. Specialized residencies with extra equipment for video/film editing or music production are available.
Fees & Costs
Application fee: $20. Residents must pay a $200 refundable deposit. Artists are responsible for their own studio materials, meals, and travel expenses to and from Memphis.
