Artists apply to participate in a multidisciplinary art residency at Aviário Studio in Portugal, selecting from self-directed, guided, or assisted production residency formats to develop visual art projects.
Overview
Aviário Studio Multidisciplinary Residency provides technical conditions, time, and space for artists to develop ideas and explore new approaches. The artist-run space offers workshops equipped for printmaking, ceramics, wood, metal, sculpture, installation, drawing, painting, photography, and bookbinding. Residencies can be moments of experimentation and research or consolidation of a project into a new body of work, with duration and focus defined by each participating artist's goals.

Eligibility
Open to artists based anywhere in the world at any stage of career (emerging, mid-career, or established). Must be over 21 years old at the time of arrival.
Residency length & format
- 2–6 months (artists define duration based on their goals)
- Choose from: Self-directed Residency, Guided Art Residency, or Assisted Production Residency
Housing & amenities
Private bedroom in a shared housing facility on campus. Spouses/partners allowed for full stay (non-collaborators). Residents have access to shared kitchen; meals not provided.

- 5 weeks: 1,500€

Studio & equipment
Shared and dedicated studios with full-time and part-time technicians. Studios include ceramics workspace (electric wheels and kiln), blacksmithing (soldering, gas/oxy torches, bench grinder), darkroom, printmaking (etching press, inking table, drying racks, silkscreen studio), book arts facilities, and woodworking tools.

- Confirm ability to cover costs of residency fee, travel, materials, and food
Additional opportunities
Residents may donate a work of art, participate in open studio with fellow residents, give artist talks, lead workshops for the public or fellow residents, or participate in skill shares. Spouses/partners and collaborative teams welcome.

- Residency Fee (2 weeks): 600€. Additional duration options: 3 weeks - 900€, 4 weeks - 1,200€, 5 weeks - 1,500€, 6 weeks - 1,800€. Materials and meals not included. Studio Support (training or assistance): 20€ per hour.
